We're Jamie Lee and Kalen, the owners of the LaHave River Campground in beautiful Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia. We took ownership of the campground coming up on a few years ago now, with the goal of bringing this little space back to life! It's needed a lot of lovin' getting things back to snuff around here.
It's also needed a lot of marketing. Even some people that lived in our community were not aware of the LaHave River Campground, and if they were, they knew that it wasn't a space they were necessarily welcomed into. We've spent the last couple of years building out our online presence, and inviting the community in; be it for camping, stopping by our store, or joining in on the fun with our events and activities.
And it's working! Neighbours are popping in for ice cream and mini golf, our bookings are starting to take off, and each week friends and families are enjoying our grounds and making beautiful memories. And NOTHING makes us happier than seeing this space come back to life!
As the old saying goes, your vibe attracts your tribe. And as we're screaming "come camping with us" from the rooftops, we want to be really clear about what our vibe is here at LaHave.
From the moment you set foot in our store, you will be warmly welcomed. We're pumped you've chose us to camp with us! And you will be continuously welcomed by doggos, children and adults alike as you walk around the camp. We are a tight knit community that loves enjoying camping culture together; be it playing a yard game, swimming or tubing in the river, having a bonfire, sharing a meal or taking in live music - that's what we're all about here.
What we are NOT about at LaHave...
We are not about people being dicks. Point-blank. If you are going to come camp here, at our home, with an attitude towards us or your fellow campers, please don't.
We are not about disrupting the peace. If you're wanting to blare your music, or party until all hours, please camp elsewhere. We have little ones here trying to sleep.
We are not about disrespecting this land. We work hard to improve our spaces here, and expect them to be respected as much as we do this land. Nature is not your trash can.
Our culture is our biggest asset here at LaHave. And as much as we need to get the word out about our campground to become a viable small business, it's equally as important that we protect our culture here at LaHave and ensure that this is a warm, welcoming and safe space for everyone.
So in short, don't be a dick, don't disrupt the peace, and don't disrespect the land.
And in return, we will offer you and your loved ones a little escape into nature on our peace of paradise.
That's our vibe. So if you're our tribe, come camping with us! ✌️
